Atal Utkrisht Schools are a flagship initiative of the Government of Uttarakhand aimed at transforming selected government secondary and senior secondary schools into model institutions that provide high-quality, CBSE-standard education. The scheme was launched in 2018 and is named in honor of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The primary objective of the initiative is to improve the quality of education in government schools, especially in rural and remote areas, by providing modern infrastructure, well-trained teachers, digital learning facilities, and a student-friendly learning environment. Many Atal Utkrisht Schools are affiliated with the CBSE board, enabling students to receive education that meets national standards.
